Begin with intention. Before the rush, before the noise, there is a moment of stillness. We roast coffee to protect that moment — one cup at a time.

Huye Mountain (Rwanda 🇷🇼)
from £11.00

From the land of a thousand hills comes a coffee of rare depth and character. Stone fruit, plum, treacle, black tea - dark, complex, and endlessly rewarding. This is a coffee that reveals itself slowly, and rewards you for paying attention.

Grown high in the hills of Huye district, where Rwanda's volcanic soils and mountain air produce some of the finest specialty coffee on the continent. This is a coffee with a story worth telling - and a cup worth savouring.

Behind every bag is a community. Huye Mountain was founded in 2012 by David Rubanzangabo, a Rwandan coffee industry veteran since 1998, working alongside local smallholder farmers to raise quality and build a more sustainable supply chain. Through shared training and micro-loans for equipment, water supply, and agricultural inputs, what started as 500 farmers across 28 hectares has grown to over 1,300 farmers today - and the results speak for themselves, including 2nd place at the Cup of Excellence in 2012.

About this coffee

The Huye micro-region was among the first in Rwanda to produce top-tier specialty coffee. Rich volcanic soils, plentiful sunshine, and tropical rainfall create exceptional growing conditions - and at high elevation, the Bourbon variety truly comes into its own. Ripe cherries are hand-selected, then sorted by floatation before being dried whole in the sun on raised African beds for three to four weeks, developing the deep, complex character that naturals from this region are known for.

Dulima (Colombia 🇨🇴)
from £11.00

A coffee with roots as deep as the volcanoes it grows on. Named after the Snow Queen herself - the Tolima volcano, as the indigenous Pijaos people knew it - Dulima captures everything that makes Huila one of the world's great coffee regions. Caramel, chocolate, oolong berry - and pulled through milk, it transforms into something else entirely: rich, indulgent caramel stroopwafel.

Grown by smallholder farmers at altitude between 1,500m and 2,000m, washed with care, and selected through rigorous sensory analysis at origin. Every lot earns its place in the bag.

Pull it as a clean, vibrant espresso or let it shine as a filter. Either way, Dulima delivers.

About this coffee

Dulima has been crafted since 2009 to capture the quintessential profile of central and south Huila - a region that not only produces 18% of all Colombian coffee, but was the first department in the country to begin production. Farmers here are pioneers: quality-obsessed, open to new methods, and tending their crops with exceptional care across some of the most fertile, high-altitude terrain in South America. We select every lot through rigorous sensory analysis at origin to guarantee consistency from harvest to harvest.

Our Coffee

At Break of Dawn, quality comes first. We source exceptional coffees from around the world and meticulously roast each one to reveal its unique character and flavour.

We source our beans from farms and partners who share our values: fair pay, sustainable farming, and long-term impact. Because quality coffee should do good from origin to cup. Every bean carries a story - of place, people, and craft - and we’re here to tell it.

Serving people in need

Our mission with this roastery is simple - help as many people in need as possible. That’s why we are donating £1 of every bag sale to charity.

And that’s just the start - we want charitable initiatives to be an integral part of what we do. The more we grow, the more people we help - that’s the plan.

  • Fantastic tasting, freshly ground coffee. I particularly enjoyed the Guatemala roast. It's easy to tell that the beans had been flown in and ground immediately before I received the bag. And the smell...it's worth buying just for that!

  • 👀👀👀 the Anil Mantiquera is the most Brazilian tasting Brazilian I’ve tried in ages - you guys absolutely nailed it! Can’t remember the last time I tasted the origin characteristics so clearly. What a delicious cup, so round and chocolatey, perfectly balanced, no notes.

    — Elias

  • The coffee is very nice. I’m not even a big coffee fan, prefer tea, but this coffee is actually very good. The taste is delightful - it was super smooth and I loved the fruity notes that I got. Very impressed

  • I’m really impressed with this new roastery. The coffee tastes incredible, smells amazing, and the beans are clearly fresh. Every cup feels high quality. Can't wait to see what other flavours they have in store. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!

  • This is amazing coffee! Have tried the Brazil and Guatemala beans (pre-ground for Aeropress) and both are amazing. Really rich and complex flavours and it's very well priced for such high quality coffee. The company ethos seems great too, can clearly see they care about the customer and the quality of their product. Keep up the good work!
